Ten Turning Points For the Affiliate Marketer
A thought came over me. I wondered if I could put together a list of 10 turning points to help get you started in affiliate marketing. I figured it would be a great starting point for people interested in generating extra money from the comfort of your home or coffee shop as an affiliate marketer.
A beginners list of ten points that could help make all the difference in the world (big and small) with any online affiliate business.
For anyone who wants to start and scale an affiliate business today:
-
Build an audience
– traffic sources sometimes work and sometimes don’t. They could also not produce, causing anxiety and uncertainty. An audience will give you a sense of security and peace of mind. An email list of subscribers, (your permission based leads) will become an asset that will generate sales for you. Anytime you send an email with an offer you can generate sales. The amount of sales depends on list size, and matching the right people to your offer. You probably can’t offer making money online to a list interested in weight loss products.
-
Leverage email marketing
– I’ve tried all kinds of internet media, and email is by far my favorite. If you can learn to write simple emails with a friendly voice, you will find email marketing easy. Can imagine if I decided to ignore email as a marketing tool, I would be be making a big mistake and leaving money on the table.
-
Pr0mote products you believe in
– it’s hard to recommend something you secretly hate or don’t know what the product is or does. Occasionally I will run into a product and have a gut feeling that something is fishy. The best part of affiliate marketing is you are selling other people’s products. You don’t need your own products, but do promote stuff you’re interested in, trust, love, and would not be afraid to recommend or discuss to your mom. Plus matches your audience lists. And of course you can sell your own products too. Digital products are best for the making money online niche. Check out Rapid Digital Assets for how to do exactly that. https://hop.clickbank.net/?affiliate=kenkspsllc&vendor=part2suc&cbpage=rapid
-
Cross-promote complementary offers
– when is the best time to sell your customers something? The moment they bought something else from you. We all enjoy buying stuff. We just don’t like being sold. A question to ask yourself is, what’s the next promotion?
-
Segment buyers into a separate list
– as in the saying; a buyer is a buyer is a buyer. Cherish the people who buy from you, earning you money. The customers are people. They are hard to find and easy to lose. Over deliver, give more than expected.
-
Make more offers
– Income is directly proportional to list size and how many times you make offers via emails. So send more promotional emails, often. Most people want to hear from you, that is one of the reasons they signed-up with their email address. There will always be people that unsubscribe from your list. It is the way it is and do not look deeply into the why.
-
Master one traffic source
– getting traffic isn’t always that easy. Each traffic source burdens you with a long learning curve. Once you have tapped into a source that works, stick to it, practice it, and master it before moving to the next one. Obtaining traffic leads is for a future post, but if you have some time, check out this 58 minute web-class of one way using a Facebook feature.
-
Use templates when and where possible to save time
– coming up with good page design, graphics and marketing material from scratch isn’t easy. If you figured out a working formula, use it. You will make more by producing lots of so-so marketing, than a little bit of great marketing, so don’t fall into analysis paralysis. Do some split testing for data.
-
You can’t improve what you don’t measure
– track your clicks, leads and sales. Otherwise, how will you know if it’s working or not? Possibly an Excel (Windows) or Number (MAC) One way is to use link tracking like Clickmagick, Improvely or Click.org *(See below for using a spreadsheet)
-
Look for markets, not products
– popular markets are best. Like E-Business & E-Marketing, Health & Fitness and Business & Investing. You might check magazines.com to see if there are any magazines on the market subject you are considering. If there is a magazine with good subscription rates then you are probably good to go. If you think about it, there wouldn’t be a magazine about a subject without enough interested people. Be sure to check other sources like, ClickBank and WarriorPlus
There are many more that we could add, like:
Find a mentor or coach to speed up the process by shortening the learning curve to get started. Fast forwarding you through the starting steps.
Going it alone is not always a good idea because starting from scratch is hard. A mentor/coach will speed the process up and get you on the right track generating money from your affiliate marketing business.

- Ad-spend, How much you spend on advertising for traffic
- CPC, Cost Per Click

I’m hopeful that I was successful at my attempt to put the 10 point list together.
